The week I found out I was pregnant I was scheduled to give blood. I give blood every couple of months usually, when the University has a blood drive. It is easy and makes such a difference.
However, now I'm giving blood in a different way, vials of it filled with my maternal serum on the way to the lab for test after test. The first round, at about 7 weeks, took about 7 vials and returned about 8 pages of tests in my insurance statement. Today, as part of my triple screen, two more vials were taken and sent away. Goodness, at least I know I won't get out of practice!
