Now that Sebastian can pull himself up to his knees he is really enjoying playing with his LeapFrog activity table. While it has lower items for when he is sitting at it, being able to see the top has opened up a whole new world of playtime for him.
We've finished our Thanksgiving dinner. The rub on the turkey helped it turn a beautiful color, and there were plenty of sides to go around. Especially since Sebastian took his nap during dinner so it was just Jay and I and enough food for 10 people.
...usually. Last night for my birthday Jay took me to Chuy's for mexican food. Everyone raves about the place and I too REALLY enjoyed my meal (the Elvis Presley Memorial Combo which did not include the Elvis Presley Fried Chicken which is rolled in Lay's Potato chips before frying). I also really enjoyed the three margaritas. Unfortunately a full night of sleeping them off was not in the cards...
Prior to 2:45am I had to move the pug at least once due to excessive snoring (a common problem)
From 2:45am-3:45am I had to comfort a screaming baby who is, from what I can tell, about to cut a few more teeth and was not happy about it. Once I found the baby tylenol and gave him some he seemed a bit happier.
At 5:45am I woke up because the cat was throwing up on the carpet right next to my bed.
Even as I lazed in bed this morning I was not quite able to ease into my day. The dog in the yard behind us barks when he is ready to back in and sometimes it takes many barks before the owners get him. Every bark was met with a head lift and light growl from Leo which means I need to pat his head and tell him it is okay quickly or it will turn into a full bark-back. Guess how I know?
PS. to everyone that called me yesterday to wish me a happy b-day...thanks! Since we also went to a movie I had my cell switched to vibrate in case of the babysitter calling so I got to see all your calls even though I didn't get to answer them.
PPS. Harry Potter at the IMAX theater is worth every extra penny!
We've never been known to cook light on a holiday, and this year Thanksgiving will be no different. Even though we are staying home, just the two of us and the baby, we're making enough food to feed at least a family of 6! Yummy leftovers are sure to follow.
While I managed to get most of our ingredients today at the the regular grocery store...I'll be heading to the gourmet shop tomorrow for some specialty items. And don't worry, the pets aren't being left out...both Leo and Watson get a special soft food turkey dinner for Thanksgiving too!
This morning we headed to the Butterfly Center with the girls. Both wore floral shirts hoping to attract some of the butterflies but there definitely were not as many as there were last time I was there. My nieces Ashley and Gracey enjoyed looking at the butterflies. My dad was good enough to carry Sebastian for me so I could take more pictures. We followed up with lunch and ice cream at the zoo while we walked around.
My Mom wants some sugar paste penguins for her wedding cake and the folks making the cake don't do that kind of detail work so I told her I would give it a try. This is the first one I made. Not bad for no experience. I ordered a couple of cake decorating books from Amazon to see if I can get some additional direction when it comes to working with sugar paste.
About two nights ago Sebastian figured out that he could crawl. Now, he is not crawling with any regularity, yet! He is however moving from point A to point B pretty well, and occasionally he even crawls. It has made him extremely happy to be on the floor now that he can get to what he wants. And now, I'll no longer be able to leave him on the living room floor while I run into the kitchen because he will be in a different place when we return. To see him in action (with no sound) check out this short video.
