Yes, it is yet another set of pictures of Abby! Today I decided to practice some studio lighting stuff so I dragged out my backdrop and lights and took some pictures of Abby in my new basket. She was an angel!
A while ago there was much hoopla over the new book "The Dangerous Book for Boys" and today on ParentDish it was again brought to the top of the pile. A sort of handbook for boys, this vintage looking but brand new book is totally fun to read. I pre-ordered one before it was published and had it in my hot little hands to give Jay for Father's Day. And he has enjoyed it. I thought it would be a fun book to share with his Dad, but as it turns out, he already had it, and had a spare copy to share with us! So, I look forward to watching Jay enjoy the book, and watching for him to share it with Sebastian. As the Mom I'll hold my breath and stick to the safer activities, but I love how excited Sebastian gets when his daddy pushes him to take risks. And we are a family of risktakers!
BTW, as of today, this book is ranked #3 on Amazon.
Abby thinks Sebastian is the greatest. Earlier today she was sitting in her walker playing and Sebastian was just running around in circles near her. She was squealing in delight. She is always very interested in what he is doing, and he is very sweet about sharing.
One of my neighbors had her baby on Sunday and she was kind enough to let me peek in to see him this afternoon. Although he was almost a month early he was the same length as Abby when she was born, and weighed a little less. It is amazing to me how absolutely quickly you forget how bitty a newborn is. I was shocked at how small he looked. And it made me a little weepy. I went back and looked at Abby's pictures from when she was 5 days old and she definitely looked bigger. I think it is because she had such a round head. So round that the doctor commented on at right after delivery!
The good news is that I get to photograph newborns with my business now so I can soak them in, and then go home and enjoy my children who mostly sleep through the night. I really, REALLY don't miss that part.
Last year my dad's friend was picked to be on a new HGTV show called "Look What I Did". His friend had turned his backyard into a "fishing camp" complete with a dock, boats, and a bar. I actually saw this backyard once on a visit and it was really impressive. Well, they filmed last year on my Dad's birthday so they had a party at the house to show off the yard for filming. My dad was there for the 8 hours of filming helping his friend "build" the deck. He's on the right in the first picture and the second picture. His friend Keith is in the grey shirt and red pants. I was just watching HGTV today while working and realized that this was the segment my dad was in so I was able to capture a couple of scenes from it!
Jay, Sebastian, Abby and I spent the weekend in Alabama with Jay's sister and her family. They were able to get this awesome bay house which is owned by her husband's family. The first day we spent at the Grand Hotel pool in Point Clear just a few miles away, which was beautiful. Sebastian loved "swimming" with his cousins! The second day we stayed at the house and let the kids play at the beach. Sebastian enjoyed trying to catch critters with his net and playing in the water. The second morning he was there he got up super early so we spent the early part of the morning out at the waters edge...just the two of us while the rest of the house slept in. Unfortunately Abby had a nasty rash the entire time we were there so no photos of baby girl!
