The bluebonnets are blooming! I dragged the family for an hour and a half drive to Brenham TX where I had heard there were some fields. We found only one spot which was right next to the Whataburger and in front of the La Quinta Hotel. Mostly the kids just ran around but it was beautiful.
This morning the rain held off long enough for me to take the kids to the Cowboy Camp (by Tammi Sauer) book signing. We had a great time with an interactive book reading by the author and a song that the kids got to dance along to. After the reading the kids played in the "fountain" area (thankfully the water was turned off today) and we had lunch at Johnny Rockets which as offering a free kids meal for every paid for adult meal. Yes, it was another great Moxie Moms' event.
Sebastian in his "cowboy" gear. Seriously, some kids were completely decked out and I realize now that I really need to get him an official cowboy costume for these types of events and for school rodeo day.
The book was so fun - I definitely recommend it for your little cowboy or cowgirl.
The author was on hand to personalize and sign the books for the families. Our copy (which we pre-ordered) was even tied up in a red bandana and some twine!
The author reading the book to the group. It as a huge group and the kids were spellbound!
Abby enjoyed some time playing outside before we headed in for lunch. It is supposed to thunderstorm later so we were just ahppy to be able to play a little outside before the rain came.
I headed up to Mercer Botanical Gardens yesterday with the kids to scout for sessions I have up there this week highlighting the blooming azaleas. Of course, she was decked out in her Matilda Jane Clothing. That dress is looking a little short...good thing we have our spring order in! :-)
I feel like I still need some practice on my new rolls of background paper so I decided to set one of the rolls up tonight and try it out. I actually liked the results better than the first one I tried (a salmon-red color) because this aquamarine color was a really strong blue with a little bit of light hitting the background. It was the first time Sebastian actually asked me to take his picture. Abby is not entering the age where she won't just sit and let me take her picture anymore (but I was able to temporarily distract her with one of my prop bunnies). And of course, Leo is always willing to sit for a treat.
Today is Sebastian's third birthday but don't tell him. We celebrated yesterday since Jay had to work today and I have an event to go to tonight. We visited Rocket City Fun Station which is a place that has a large buffet and games and rides for the kids. He LOVES it there and asks on a daily basis if Rocket City is open. We had lunch and then Sebastian raced from game to game with his daddy while Abby and I followed along. I ran out for groceries and a birthday cake while Sebastian napped and when I got home he had just gotten up and we were bringing groceries in. I placed his cake on the counter and about two seconds later I heard "I want my birthday cake" to which I turned around just in time to see him slide it off the counter....and right onto the floor. After some tears were shed Jay took Sebastian out to the garage to help put his new bike togther and then he took him to the store to pick out a new birthday cake. I think he had a great time even though it was just us for his birthday this year.
On Saturday I spend time time in the afternoon taking some pictures of different objects in my backyard and Abby was there to help me. She enjoyed some playtime in their play house and some time on the swing! The weather was beautiful in the low 70s and clear. Today, however, the rain has been coming and going.
