Silver Lining

So the silver lining to losing the tree in our front yard is now we have LOTS of light in the mornings in our dining room.  The kids help me show it off...

Sebastian was in a great mood and rolling around.  Poor Abby was feeling a little under the weather but at least she sat in for a minute.

Post hurricane

We think the worst of Ike is over. It is windy but not as scary and with fewer gusts. Sebastian slept on an air mattress in our master closet and didn't emerge until around 9:30am. Abby and I slept most of the night in the downstairs guest room which was somewhat quiet. I only slept a little here and there. Our cable went out at 10pm last night and hasn't come back. The power is flickering but on. We had to turn our AC off because of the power fluxuations. Overall we were lucky that we were hit with the west side of the storm which was still totally scary. The tree in front of our house snapped and missed hitting my car by probably a couple of feet.

Now we are hanging out on the playroom with the kids. I am grateful for my iPhone which has let me stay connected even without cable and Internet. I'm looking forward to participating in naptime today. I wonder what the recovery will be like. How long will it take for things to get back to normal?

Hurricane Ike

Hi, I'm sure many of you are worried about us as Hurricane Ike approaches.  Local officials have encouraged us to stay at home to keep the roads clear for those in the areas most at risk for flooding so we will be waiting out the storm at home.  we have lots of water, food, and wine so we are in good shape for the storm.  Our neighbor has a generator and portable AC unit if the power goes out and it gets too hot in our home.

If the power does go out we probably won't be online or available by phone but I believe we'll still be able to get and send text messages on our cell phone.  I plan to update my twitter feed via my cell too so you can hop over there to see what is going on too.  Jessica ON TWITTER  the updates should also show up on the left side of this website!!!

Zoo Visit

Today the kids and I visited the Houston Zoo.  Here are some of the animals we got to see today and the kids who paused long enough to enjoy snacks.  It was the first time I went without a stroller and it was GREAT!

Sebi at Sunset

Sebastian is growing into quite the little boy!!! He came to work with me one day last week and watched movies while laying on the sofa in my office while I worked.  He was so good.  So then we stopped off at one of the parks I had a shoot at later in the week to test out the sunset light.
